In fact, our association has for main mission to work for the preservation of Siberian Nature for future generations. We are organising ecotour in order to improve the knowledge of everyone about natural issues that is nowadays facing Siberia. Concerning the Golden Mountain Altai, we are looking to participate on the process of its natural protected area’s recognition. We adhere to classical definition of the ecotourism: a visit to a natural area that brings appreciable socio-economic benefit to the local people, and, at the same time, leaves the local environment in a better state than it was before. The main principles of our ecotourism activity is: to show true life in Siberia and Central Asia combination of showing nature’s objects/phenomena with present-day social life as well as cultural events (museums, art gallery etc.) to show diversity of nature as much as possible possibility to meet and get to know local people high quality of food and its diversity and abundance (professional cooks, hot meals 3 times a day anywhere if it is possible etc.) friendly and open-minded Russian service team (guide, interpreter if necessary, cook, technical assistant, bus driver) low prices We can suggest low price because of: good organization (logical route and transportation, accommodation in hotels only where it is really necessary) absence of overhead expenses absence of large outlay for advertising Have a good journey! In addition to our scientific excursion, we have been organizing ecotourism for more than 10 years. An ecotour is less concentrated on educational scientific backgrounds. It is much more composed of cultural aspects, out-door activities (such as trekking and hiking, rafting, horseback ridding), but also with a strong interest on the Siberian wildlife and landscapes.
The different trips that we offer, will give you a chance to see the beautiful landscapes of Siberia and especially the Altai mountains region, undisturbed by human activities. The “Golden Mountains of Altai” are situated in the south of West Siberia on the border of Russia, Mongolia, Kazkhstan and China.
You will cross all altitude ecozones from tundra to steppe and Central Asian semi-desert in the Altai mountainous region (near the Mongolian frontier).
A special point of the tour is lake Teletskoye, which is the largest lake in the Siberian mountains and one of deepest lakes in the world. As well as you will get to know the way of life of the people inhabiting this area.
It should be noted that the Altai mountains was listed as the UNESCO World Nature Heritage Site in 1998. There are only 5 such sites on the territory of former USSR!
So high mountains, beautiful lakes, powerful turbulent as well as nice quiet rivers are worth seeing and enjoying. The tour includes passages by bus to cover a distance of about 2.100 km in combination  with trekking and hiking or horseback riding. The maximal altitude of hiking is limited by 3.100mhe trekking tour.

Our ecotours are destined for every one who would like to get extraordinary experience in the huge Siberia during his/her holidays, and in the same time, to contribute for its preservation. Other local people receive some economical benefits every time while we organize your travel.

Around 3% of ecotour fee will be intended to support our environmental educational program for Siberian children (more info...)

Through the network of Russian and international environmentalists, which we created, the NGO “Siberian Institute of Ecological Initiatives” helps to draw attention to the ecological problems of Siberia year after year. Along with some other tourist organizations that work in Siberia, we are involved in developing ecotourism as an alternative solution for development of the region with much less damage for Siberian environment as compare for example to heavy industry.Here you may find some reference letters of the former participants of our ecotours, pictures and  reports about previous tours!

THE SIBERIAN INSTITUTE OF ECOLOGICAL INITIATIVES ASSOCIATED WITH WWF RUSSIA FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE ALTAI-SAYAN’S FOREST YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, please download the programme here or browse directly the WWF Russia webpages in English THE PROGRAMME: GREEN SQUARE OF ALTAI FOREST Almost 80 hectares of unique ribbon forest was restored in 2004 thanks to participants in the programme “ Plant your forest for life”. The total area of new forests now exceeds 400 hectares. This is a “green square” with 2-kilometer-long-sides. In 1997, WWF appealed to the public with the request to support the restoration of unique pine forests, which burnt down in the Altai Region. But for the complete restoration of Altai’s ribbon forests, ten of thousands of hectares must still be planted. Uniting conservation, communities and sustainable travel, TIES promotes responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people.
